My first foray into a favorite area of mine (long overdue) - Neil Young. I was actually inspired by an Annie Lennox cover of this song - she sounded exactly like a polished Neil Young voice - amazing
Eleanor Rigby (The Beatles)
One of the most famous Beatles songs of all time originally scored with a string quartet would have been far too easy to arrange (no change from the original would have been necessary). So I knew something special would have to be done to accentuate the two most obvious attributes of the original - the driving rhythm and the syncopated melody. By fitting the rhythmic elements into changing meters, I believe the audience will continually be surprised, and by overlaying the melody I couldn’t help but attain extremely syncopated variants of the original
I'm On Fire (Bruce Springsteen)
We were scheduled to play an event in Washington, D.C. and the client loved Bruce Springsteen, so there you have it. Turns out, I never would have noticed this song, but after listening, I really liked it.
Penny Lane (The Beatles)
Definitely a favorite Beatles song of mine. That’s ususally all the motivation I need.

Yesterday
There are certain tunes that have to be arranged - not doing so would be an obvious omission. Yesterday is certainly high on that list. I put off doing this song because, like Eleanor Rigby, it was already so beautiful. I feared I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. Here I chose to accentuate the inherent suspensions and rhythmic ties.
